Quick Update

By • September 10, 2007

This will be a fast one.  Pretty much only pictures.  I’m in Japan now.  Busy, but having fun.  Translation is progressing, hacking is progressing.  Not much more to say.  There’s really not much more new stuff to demonstrate with pictures after this.  So things will be mostly behind the scenes and just-for-fun type pictures.

Well, there you have it.  Things are looking pretty good, huh?  *Nods*  Anyway, I need to get back to translating.  And then it’s time for bed.  It’s starting to get late here in Japan, you know.

  1. It’s very nice! *_*
There are subs in the skits ^^
I loved your decision for original names (like apple gumi, majinken, kogahazan…) in this project ^^
    I don’t like that localization names >_<
Is it possible make karaoke e subs in the opening too? It will be great 🙂

Good Lucky with your project 🙂

Sorry for my poor english, I don’t have habit to write in english, I have habit for read… ^^”

  2. I’m glad you like the project. As for having karaoke subtitles in the opening, I don’t know. The only way I would want them is if they could be enabled or disabled, which I think would be a pain. A lot of people wouldn’t want them taking up the screen space (me included), so I don’t imagine this is something we’ll pursue. I’ll discuss it with Gemini, though I doubt he’ll have much interest in putting subs in the intro.

  3. Trully, karaoke and subs may pollute the screen ^^”
Anyway, the most important is the main translation(text, menu, skill’s description…) ^^
I already have the opening with karaoke and translation made for a brasilian fansub: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CFmXLB-WwA \o/

One more time: thanks for this project *_*

  4. Hi, I’m new here and I love the looks of this project of yours. Truely you’re doing a great favor to the entire Tales fanbase. I do have a few questions that I hope you won’t mind answering.

    1. When can we expect this thing to be done? (Sorry if this is posted somewhere)

    2. I remember a project similar to this for Tales of the World Radiant Mythology, was that you?

    3. After this do you plan on doing the same for other PSP Tales games?

Thanks for everything you’re doing, keep up the good work.

  5. Dracon, thanks for the comment.

    1) Probably the project will be done by the end of the year. It may be sooner, but all things considered, I really don’t think it should take any longer then that.

    2) I never worked on a Radiant Mythology. Maybe you were thinking of Carnivol?

    3) I don’t think so. I think Tales of Eternia got a project that translated it already, plus, it’s available in English if you import it from the UK anyway. Also, keep in mind that all the current screenshots are all on the PSX version of the game. While I hope that we’ll get to the Full Voice Edition for the PSP, for right now, this remains a PSX exclusive project (but of course you can play it on your PSP).

  6. Regarding the screen shot posted of the skit scene from the world map…I assume from the shot that it’ll just be subtitled, but how many of these little skit-scenes are there in the game? Are they all full-voice recordings? I didn’t see mention of these in the translation of the script anywhere.

  7. Indeed, I didn’t want to do them at the time I did the script because I had no way of knowing if I could do all of them. However, now that we’re actually hacking the game, it’s certainly possible and part of our plan. There are a few hundred of them in the PSP version, and while I don’t have an exact count for the PSX version, the number is likely comparable. They’re all full voice recordings and add a whole lot to the game experience. We’re very glad to be able to finally bring them to you in their full glory.

  8. Yes, a translation of the skits would *really* be something special to see and would definitely complement the PSX version. Does it pose a massive problem finding these skits and their audio first, then actually inserting translations for them? Or is all the locating and hacking code done for these, just the translation part remains? I recall playing the Japanese version only briefly but did discover these skit scenes and was complete amazed at them. Having these translated would be the crown jewel in an already impressive hacking and translation project. My hat is off to you guys for undertaking this extra step.

  9. I’m under the impression the Gemini has completed the actual hacking for the skit subtitles. I haven’t asked lately, but I’m assuming it won’t be too difficult to locate the audio. In any case, the Skits are something like the finishing touches to the project, so considering that much of the main script remains, we haven’t yet attacked it. But certainly it is planned, and I have no doubts we’ll be able to manage it, so I’m glad you’re looking forward to it.
