This will be a quick update, we just want to show off some new pictures and assure people that we’re still moving right along.
EDIT: Updated the subtitles. They now have a better border.
As with any voiced game, there are portions which contain voice, but no text. Our goal is to make sure that all of the important story events are understood by the player. In order to do that, Kingcom has produced some subtitles for scenes that need them. You can see them at work in Vrtra’s intro. I realize that they may look hard to read on a computer screen, but rest assured they are perfectly readable on the DS screen. In the second shot, you can see a mostly finalized weapon screen shot. Since the menu translation is mostly complete, Kingcom has been working on cleaning them up, which can be a tedious and painful job. But as you can see, he has turned that kana-based nightmare into a beautiful English layout.
I have been working mainly on the script itself, which has been plenty of fun. The beginning is always a challenge, since I have to come up with creative terms for many of the specialized terms related to ToI’s plot. Most of these have appeared at the point I’m at, but you can never say you have them all finalized until the game is done. Oh, one last thing I want to mention! People have asked about the Versus Style in the past. As many of you know, in order to get Versus, you have to play the Wireless mode which of course requires a friend with Tales of Innocence. We recognize that you probably aren’t going to meet many people playing ToI, so we are making the Versus style available WITHOUT the need to get on the Wireless. Cool, huh? Until next time… ^_^
