Today, the Tales of Innocence project is officially one year old.
This video, as I mention in it, is something new that I wanted to try. As promised, I made a poll in the forum. You can just vote or you can post and share your opinions. The main feature this time is the video, so that’s about all I’ve got to say.

I enjoyed that a lot! It´d be even better if you could narate what we see even more. Like: Here you see CHARACTER do this attack, I used this and this translation because bla and bla.
But yeah definitely keep this up! I´ve only played the game a tiny little bit, so seeing you with a full party doing some combat explaining a little bit about your progress and choices is fun
Sweet. I’ve actually been keeping tabs on this for awhile now, and just didn’t wanna sound fake by praising, flaming or defending flames, but this video has pulled it outta’ me. NIIICE!! I can’t wait. And seriously, thanx for throwing your free time on it. I’ll shut up again for now ’til the project ends and then come back and praise you to death like a lil girl, lol. It is a terrible translation. I don’t want people getting the impression that that text translation is an example of how I translate now. It was overly ambitious. I didn’t know enough Japanese and made some awful choices like leaving honorifics in it. On top of mistakes, many of the sentences are phrased awkwardly. I’m of the opinion that it isn’t to anyone’s benefit to use that translation to play the game. I continue to pray for the day that translation is forgotten. :/

what happened to “screw grammer, it’s spada time”? jk. I like this kind of update, can you do a mystic artes/hi-ougi exhibition in your next video? and I’m ecstatic you’re so close to finishing, thank you for all your hard work over the past year and for tolerating all of us…
I’ll try, but I might just do one or two characters. The problem is that I lack the ability to talk and play at the same time, so that level of play might be difficult for me. Also, there are several quotes the randomly appear. Depending on your luck, maybe you’ll see ‘spada time’ next visit.
Its good to have this update, thank you, it will be fun when its ready its been a long time since I played a “tale of” game, the last tales of I played was tales of the abyss and my time counter was at 400 hours when I decided to stop playing.
If you do an other video, it could be interesting to see a translated skit of average length to have an idea of the amount of work left.

How did you learned Japanese? Did you read books (which) or are you studying Japanese language or something?
And If Tales of Destiny PS2 Version – Translation Project is going to start again… How are we supposed to play it when the translation of the game is finished (after 1 or 2 years..?)? I mean… the PS2 emulator and stuff… Not every PC is powerful enough to handle a PS2 game on a PS2 Emu on the PC. I think Tales of Destiny PS2 would be very very slow… right?
^ You can always patch the ISO with the translation, burn it to a dvd-r, and play on a modded PS2.
But yeah, if you dont have one, then your only chance is a emu, alright.
Forgive my ignorance but did I catch you saying somewhere on the lines, your not happy with the voices? Am I misinterpreting that as to mean you guys are dubbing the voices o.O
I’d prefer subs compared to dubs unless its done incredibly well, for example dubbed The Cat Returns is great =D
If voices are given depth and emotion, it would work perfectly unlike most dubs where the voice actor/actress sounds like a complete emotionless amature. Hell if that is the case and whoever you got dubbing it and pulls it off, ADV and FUNimation should fire who they got and hire them =D
I have a question I really wanted to be answer : Do you have fear, after one year, to heard Namco release the game in english (well outside of japan) ?
also… im gonna ask : do you plan on translate Tales of Heart? Oh well never mind, im just a fan, who really want to play a new tales game similar to those old tales games.
@ Taifumoffu, don’t worry, he’s not dubbing the game (or at least he’s not told us!). I think what he means is the way the character speaks (dialect etc) is difficult to get right.
@Taifumoffu: What FreudianLemur said is correct. The game will not be dubbed in English. I was talking about the text and his accent there.
@Alastor: No, I don’t fear that. If it happens, it happens. The experience has been worthwhile for me regardless. However, if I would be sad if we couldn’t show you guys all of the great stuff we did for this game. Both Kingcom and I are really proud of what we’ve done, so we really want people to be able to enjoy it.

Is there an option to turn off subtitles for in battle? It doesn’t look as nice but people may disagree.
Yes, battle subtitles can be disabled at any time. You can also choose a setting that only displays more important ones, like battle start/end and boss quotes.
