Some sad news for those hoping for a Tales of Hearts translation.

My mic sucks. I’m sorry about that. I’ll get a better one for next time.

  1. Don’t get your hopes up people. Gbatemp people are famous for making a lot of partial patches, and almost never fininshing them.

  2. @Lalakoboldslayer

Except I am one of the lead hackers for it and I can guarantee that we are doing the full translation. We are in it for the long haul, no matter how long it takes.

  3. Good luck with your project. I hope you find a capable translator. I’m sure many people are looking forward to seeing it completed.

  4. @neoxephon

    “Translators on the team…
    None yet”

Say… how was it that you completed 90% of the menu without a translator? 0_o”
Anyways, good luck with the project, I am (I`m sure most of the people here are) very grateful fot that.

  5. google translator? LOL

  6. I just start by saying thanks for taking time to translate this game i have been waiting patiently bout a yr now for it to be release so i can enjoy the game since i read japanese obviously but to the point and hope you read this Throughhim413 since i cant find the msg button to pm you I think you should really reconsider bout translating tales of heart because i also looking forward to play it and like you mention in the vid bout fans who going on your ass bout changing as tiny as the characters name i mean if some take the time to think when a is in development story writers probably trying to think of a name for each char and mostly now a lot of rpg and mmorpg gives player to choose any names they like i just hoped that dont let some obsessive otaku anime games fans who follow to the tiniest translation to stop you or your team from translating what i think is another great tales games they have to know wat you guys doing are like a free service and as long the translation you providing doesnt stray away from the game they should relax chill and just enjoy the work you guys put in

  7. I would’ve preferred it if you guys were the ones to work on a ToH translation as well… =(… But oh well. ToI is awesome enough :D

… And you do have a sexy voice XD.

  8. @a745:

Then you’re more than welcome to not play our patch for ToH when it is done.

    @Funchal99

Through help from members at GBAtemp that I know. Most of the text in the main menu are just one word – to a few words.

We have 2-3 people interested in doing the translation as well as possibly having an editor person to ensure that the translator is keeping true to the different recurring Tales of series terms. I have not named names in that thread because I am still deciding which is the best to do the job.

    @throughhim
Thanks. You’ve guys have done an awesome job with ToI so far. :)

  9. @neoxephon:

I’m sure most of us really appreciate you guys taking on the project :)
Best of luck with it, and don’t get discouraged by the cynics or the OMG 2WKS no updates WHEN U RLEASE??? crowd…. they’re not worth it :D

  10. People are too pessimistic, Someone says they want to start ToH, And they truly wish to complete it. instead of whining that they MAY drop it. Hope and cheer them on that they do complete it.

@ Neoxephon, I’m really looking forward to your project, and i’ll be watching it with a great deal of interest! =D

And of course, still watching this one obviously xP Now I just need a TotW:RM2 translation patch to get started o-o

  11. @DrWadsy and Karin:
Thanks! I’ve been getting a lot from negative people so its nice to hear some positive for a change.

And yeah, I’ll be watching this project to. This project is what inspired me to start ToH. :)

  12. wow, i’m so happy, two of my favorite never-played-because-it’s-in-japanese-tales series are being translated as I’m speaking (or typing ? lol) right now…..

@neoxephon : this patch you’re working on, is it for both versions of the game? I mean, Anime Version and CG version…because i only have the anime version

  13. neoxephon,

You should find a different “central” place to discuss the TOH project, GBA Temp can wear you down after a while. Good luck with the project, there are far too many Tales games that havent made it over here.

  14. @neoxephon

Good luck on the project. Is there a project site?

  15. Menu translations are really easy. More than half the stuff is usually in Katakana anyway. It’s doing the skit and dialogue scripts that becomes the difficult part.

  16. The Tales of Hearts Project Page:

    http://tohenglish.wordpress.com/

come on guys, go discuss in there

  17. Good luck with your patch neoxephon!!
I hope you can finish that patch!!

  18. Don’t worry about being a heartbreaker, you’ve got enough being an innocencemaker soooo, we only can keep on thaking you for yor excellent work and for focusing on ToI so much and getting so near to the final achievement !
    1k Dankes, viel Glück !

  19. long-ish games are the only ones worth translating imo :D i like my games lengthy but the downside is that the longer the game the longer the time it takes to finish it and the higher the chance boredom will creep up. so good luck <- encouraging words from Zaane

  20. Question
I don’t remember if I asked this before…I have been watching this since it was anounced…but, I was wondering if you would be subtitiling the opening movie? I don’t expect any fancy karaoke or anything like that. Just interested that’s all.

  21. ^ AHAH! You asked the same in the ToH Project Page xP

But yeah, i dont think it will be necessary.

  22. Perfectly relevant question for both projects, so why not copy and past it?

  23. The lyrics for most of the Tales OP themes really aren’t that significant. Or at least, they’re no more significant than your typical lyrics. We considered subbing the OP, but I really don’t see the point.

  24. It’s just a nice little edition you know?

Like, It’s not really necessary in fansubs, But it is a fun little extra they add in.

Personally, I’m hoping for the subbed OP, But I wont be heart broken if it’s not.

  25. I wouldn’t hold your breath. Subtitling songs is a pain in the ass. I have much better things to put my time into.

  26. Alright then, there is still youtube. Anyway, I am still happy that you are doin this, good lick.

  27. yo, say what software you used to creates the patches for the DS?

  28. Yo, the patches are created with xdelta.

  29. well to solve fabres problem im sure they have the lyrics to the opening somewhere if u REALLY wanted to u could read them while the opening played and it would be like subbing woot! <- epic suggestion from Zaane

  30. I wonder how many times I need to tell people that I’m not interested in stealing translations before it’ll sink in.

  31. Leaving the OP in japanese seems better IMO. This isn’t sing-along.

This is one of the facts why 100% english translation isn’t possible. We want to obtain the patch earlier so perhaps we can let the OP unsubbed as a sacrifice.

  32. The project will be 100% translated with or without the OP subtitled. I don’t consider it a part of the package.

  33. Here’s a good idea, forget about translating the story, and get the intro lyrics translated, it’s MUCH more important!
    /sarcasm

I’m guessing the intro will be a video file anyway, so that will probably mean having to try and convert it to a video file type you could put subtitles on, then converting it back in to the format it originally was.

Too much work for such a silly little thing.

As stated by someone else, find the lyrics online and read that along to it if it’s THAT important to you.

Aside from that, again, thanks so much for all the work throughhim, you’re an awesome guy doing some awesome translating work. =D

  34. haha wow the translating is going very well.Haha i like the video I already made it that far playing the japanese version then got stuck when the characters were asked to join the war I think. I’m not trying to spoil I just want to express on the good job you are doing.More Power :)

  35. Subtitling the video during runtime is actually very easy. I prepared working code for it, but as throughhim said, we decided against using it in the end.
It’s kinda impossible to translate these lyrics and have the same effect as in Japanese anyway.

  36. @throughhim413, did you read Zaane’s post properly? He wasn’t suggesting you use someone else’s translation in your patch, he was suggesting that anyone who wants the OP subbed can just find a translation themselves and read that. Don’t shout at “Innocent” people like Zaane!!

  37. Ah, so he did. I must’ve been annoyed by something when I responded like that. Zaane, I apologize, my mistake. But I wasn’t shouting, this is the internet – that is impossible.

  38. ah my tales of ”innocence” LOL <- Zaanes never serious unless he says the word ''seriously''

  39. is there any Updates so far?

  40. What do you think you just read?

  41. I too demand an update. It has been far too long without an update!! We need to know that the project is alive and making progress on an HOURLY basis. Days without updates is unthinkable, let alone WEEKS. This is highly unacceptable to us intertube webizens and you can expect us to be docking your pay in a fit of righteous fury.

  42. Don’t forget the suing! The huge bills for all the emotional and physical trauma this has(not) caused me!

  43. The new website for Tales of Heart is:

    http://crimson-nocturnal.hostwoot.com/

Wanna talk tales of heart go there and nock yourselfs out!! lol

  44. hmm… A subbed OP… that would be nice… anyways, it`s not like it is really needed, but it`s a pretty little extra.

  45. This team is really BREAKING HEARTS…and their PROMISES…
Nothing we can do…But to wait ( BIG SIGH )…..

  46. Can anyone tell me how much percentage of the game is translated by now? Just ’cause it’s scheduled for Summer 2009, and it’s summer 2009 now. I don’t want to see this (otherwise very promising) project end up like Duke Nukem Forever. Good luck further on and please, update a little more frequently, okay?

  47. Do you people do nothing but whine? This is a RECENT update. ‘cuz LESS than 2 weeks is just so looooooooooong ago, Isn’t that when Dinosaurs ruled the land? D=

Would you rather him waste his time updating us with every word translated, or actually translating when he gets the chance?

Yes it is Summer 2009, END of Summer 2009 was his ESTIMATED completion. Are you paying the man to translate it to the best of his abilities? NO, He’s doing it of his own free will, And is being kind enough to release it to the public for FREE. _>

And finally, instead of crying, try cheering the man on. =/ /endrant

  48. @IYoT: I don’t believe I ever promised you anything.

@Naridar: Then pretend like the release date is TBA. I’ve decided not to rush the game out by the end of the summer. I’m not going to give a new date because it only gives people an excuse to complain. Duke Nukem Forever was in progress for a decade. We’ve been working on this project for a year. I feel no guilt.

    @Karin: Thank you.

  49. wellplayed karin….well played indeed.

  50. oh well, only KIDS complain that much. -_-
