Happy… November?

By • November 1, 2009

Information is scarce, but words are, as always, plentiful.

So I’m still working on the skits. Yes, they’re taking a long time. No, they shouldn’t take that much longer. The next main update I make on the blog will be when the skits are complete. I am currently moving more quickly than I have in many months, so believe me when I say that ToI is getting the best I have to give right now.

Once the skit translation is done, I move on to editing. Once the editing and hacking are complete, we start beta testing. That takes as long as it takes, then we release. So, well, it shouldn’t be too much longer. It’s still a bit too far out to nail down an exact date, but the end is definitely in sight. Don’t start warming up your flashcarts just yet, but excluding any serious disasters, it’s probably safe to start looking forward to the release.

I’ll try to make the next update a video one.

  1. oh Alright cool ^^ Well keep working on it =D

  2. The light…it’s so bright, The light at the end of the tunnel is so bright :D

  3. I expect a massive magnetic storm that wipes every hard drive in the area.

  4. Thankfully I have it backed up on a flash drive and Kingcom has a backup in Germany. Unless it’s worldwide, I think we’ll be okay.

  5. It’s about 3 months too late to tell me not to warm up my R4…

  6. You guys are undoubtedly motivated and committed to completing this project.
Its been nice to see you progress and know that the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to be visible.
    Go Throughhim and Kingcom~!

  7. Don’t forget Yuli, she does a good job too on the project!

  8. Can’t freakin wait.

  9. Short of storing a flash drive in a Swiss bank deposit box, I think you’ve got all the bases covered then. You win, this time…

  10. keep it up dude, patiently waiting

  11. Awesome news! Can’t wait to give this game a fair shake.

  12. That’s some unexpected motivation! When the thing is done, I’ll be sure to read each and every skit that pops out in respect to all this careful work! =D

  13. Yes, I’m very happy and grateful to you and your team.

    Thanks for updating.

  14. I’ll read as many as possible and even put up with Innocence’s annoying mascot’s voice…

  15. Thank you for the update, throughhim. It’s great to see that the translation is nearing completion. =)

  16. Looking good throughhim, glad you’re not sinking with the repetitiveness of doing skits day in, day out.

Hopefully, fingers crossed, we get this as a christmas present? Hahaha.

Well, can’t wait for the release of this, need something new to play, what with the drought of DS games at the moment. I don’t think I’ve switched mine on for almost a month now.

  17. Keep it up guys!!!! Hopefully it comes out before the holidays! Haha! *wishful thinking*

  18. I was wondering how the process of the beta testing goes, do you play the entire game start to finish getting a 100% completion without any cheats (seems less time consuming just not letting you get a game over) searching any nook and cranny to check for bugs ?
or depending of the amount of people testing each person is assigned a certain portion of the game and inspects the heck out of it ?

Keep up to good work, I’ll keep following the skit thread to satisfy my need for “updates”.

  19. I’ll be playing as much of the game as I can. I have a complete save, so I’ll be starting on the game as if it were my third playthrough. That should give me access to a lot of things that other people might not see. As for the other testers, we’ll just be providing them a patch and telling them to play the game like they normally would. Everyone plays a game differently, so they might find something that I wouldn’t. The goal is to hit everything in the game at least once between all the testers, basically.

  20. Hi, good to see this still in progress. I’d like to apply for beta test in advance – wouldn’t like to be late :)

    Keep up the good work!

  21. Can’t wait for your release! Patiently put Tales of Innocence to the side just to play your patch and I still will keep it at the side until you are done. ^_^

  22. Hey throughhim, do you think you could consider one of the DS Super Robot Taisen games as a possible future translation project???

  23. You could pay me a thousand dollars and I still wouldn’t translate an SRW game.

  24. Oooh, I’m really excited now. <3

I should start maxing out the few styles I have left as well as the relationships to see all those skits in the next playthrough. ='D

  25. I bet you’re hoping someone will still try to convince you though :D

  26. Sweet, Glad to hear it! As everyone else said, Thanks so much to you and your team for your amazing and enduring work on this so far, can’t wait to play the finished product.

  27. Give me 3 good reason’s why you wouldn’t do it throughhim.

  28. I wanna be beta tester! :p yeah I know other thousand want to b too xD

  29. @RyuHiroshi: Careful! You can actually miss some skits if you acquire the Innocent style on your first playthrough. Each character has a skit that can only be seen if you obtain the Innocent style on the second (or later) playthrough.

    @LoneWolf:
    1) I don’t have any interest in the games.
    2) There is way too much text to maintain my interest.
    3) I don’t know enough about mecha and would have to spend countless hours looking up the localization standards for the different series.

Also, I don’t wanna. That alone is enough reason not to.

  30. I actually prefer throughhim stays on the Tales “zone”, as much as I like SRW (way more than I like Tales, which I friggin’ luv’ lol) and throughhim’s translation’s quality is superb, I’d rather he stayed at something he likes to do (as that certainly changes the final quality of the product). Plus, ther’s a friggin lot of Tales games that I’d like to play and are japanese only…SRW is much easier to play without a translation than the Tales of series.

  31. What if they made a Tales title that used mecha combat as well as on-foot combat? That’s an interesting concept… A futuristic Tales title… Hmm…

  32. Tales of the Abyss’ Tokunaga was about as close as I want the series getting to mecha.

  33. Thanks for warning me, but it’s too late for me seeing how I completed it three times and got Innocent style to 50 for everyone already. XD

At least I know now that I have to start a new game without inheriting styles to get those skits someday. =)

  34. I normally don’t read all of the skits because some are lengthy/boring, but just for your efforts i’ll be sure to read all of them =] beta test me? xD

  35. @RyuHiroshi: I suppose that would qualify as “too late”. Haha. Well, the one nice thing is that all six skits contribute to the Awakening percentage, so at least you’ll get something out of it if you ever decide to do it.

  36. GOODDDDDDDDD JOB BRODHER KEEP GOING

  37. Would be awesome if you did Final Fantasy XII International next :D

  38. wow, that’s nice

    can’t wait

  39. woot :S no offense but i almost wrote this off as another Summon Night project (which none have been completed yet and are kinda just hangin around) but im very glad to see err hear the progress is well progressing so good luck and i bless your patience thus far :D

  40. AW-WEEEEE!

Well, beta testing for RPG’s usually take some time, but it’s ok, we waited until now, we can wait some more ( and to tell the truth, there are SO MANY awesome new rpg’s for NDS/PSP right now … )

  41. Ahh! this is so awesome, a very happy November indeed, congrats on the hard work you have put in. :)

  42. “You could pay me a thousand dollars and I still wouldn’t translate an SRW game.”

I’m glad to see through all this tedious work that your sense of humour is fully intact. ;)

Happy November to you too Throughhim. Excellent work so far.

  43. So glad this project is reaching a finishing point… But go easy on yourselves… You’re not machines… Take all the time you need and do whatever you feel is necessary… I’m still antsy to play it, but me and my ants can wait another year if that’s what it takes… Ye be but men, I can only speak for myself but I expect to see a translation patch full of little imperfections…

  44. Good to see the end is in sight!
    Cheers!

  45. I think you should quit this project, RIGHT NAO!

Then you go all like “ahah! I was kidding! There was never a ToI translation to begin with!”

And we go all like “buuuuu! go play KH!”

And, and then you go “AHAH! Now I have acess to Dexter’s Laboratory! HAHA!”

And and and then we go “VOUCH! KRACK!”

    And then it ends.

  46. Great, thats fantastic news! Keep up the good work! Can’t wait for the release! And take your time on it! I’d rather wait a long time for it then have you release a rush job!

  47. lol.. dun worry.. We’ll all stick with it.. ur by far the upmost respected person on earth for making a full translation.. even when fighting. u translate what they’re saying. I’m wondering what he’s saying in the opening of the battle like “Ko Kunai/Kudai” i dun know. i’m not japanese.” Luca/Ruca ish so cute when he says that.. Go AbsoluteZero!!!

I’m concerned though. Many games can’t be played on my R4.. I hope when the ROM is released, it can be played on my R4. And i hope it’s .NDS file and not patch.. i dun know how to patch or how does it works.. ^^

  48. It was about 4-8 months now since I finished Tales of Hearts in the DS without any translation or something, but luckily there was a guide helpful enough to get me finish the game and it was epic. That was the day I opened my eyes and realized that Tales games are good. I thought that the only Tales game I’d enjoy was phantasia but when I tried playing this game, it was so damn good that I wanted to know more. I can understand the language but at a snail phase via looking back and forth with a dictionary lol. Anyways I was really amazed at how good of a DS game Tales of Innocence is…

I can’t believe this game is close to finishing. We are very thankful for your hardwork and may the force be with you!

  49. i am happy to hear the patch is almost done. i have been tracking this translation for months and wat to see if a japenise rpg is different to a ported one or one made in america or something. like, if it has more “fan-service” like in anime. i love how they call the stuff in j-anime “fan-service”. How they thought that is related to service i dunno. it sure is funny though!

    PS:
as you can gather, i watch a LOT of j-anime and like RPG games.

  50. You. Are. The. Man/Men. Really, I am a huge Tales fan and this game seems to be fantastic. And I’ve only just started learning Japanese so
a selfless, noble effort like this is very much appreciated.
I wish you the best of luck and I await your patch patiently. You rock!
