Kingcom and I want to extend our thanks to those of you who have donated to the Tales of Innocence project.
This last week, Kingcom started having some issues with the GPU on his computer, but thanks to the donations that we’ve received, we were able to get him a new one right away. Your donations have helped the project avoid hitting what could have been a serious snag. So really, thank you from both of us.
In other news, I am very pleased to announce that as of yesterday, November 7th, 2009, the base translation for Tales of Innocence is complete. As those of you following me on the forum know, I had been working toward daily goals. I was originally hoping to complete the skit translation by the end of November, so we’re several weeks ahead of schedule in that regard. I decided a week ago to triple my daily goal and attempt to finish the bulk of the translation before I started my full time job. While this pace wouldn’t have been sustainable over a longer period of time, it allowed me to complete the translation well ahead of my original plan. That means that only editing and beta testing stand between us and a release date. While Yuli and I will be doing our best to get through the editing as quickly as we can, we don’t want to compromise the quality of it.
As for a release date, that’s something we can talk about once the beta begins. And speaking of the beta, we are NOT looking for more people to test at this time. If we do need more people, we will contact people who we think would make good testers. I appreciate the enthusiasm, but posting comments that you want to be a beta tester isn’t going to help anyone’s case at this point. It will be a closed beta of people that we know and trust.

I am a big fan of the tales series and tales of phantasia was just great, you and everyone involved realy out did yourselves.
do you think tat when you are done with this translation you might be able to look at translating one of the two wizardry games for the ds?

1.) Congrats on going this far, if others had this much dedication then we’d see fewer rushed translations and half-assed attempts.
2.) What has been your favorite/least favorite moments working on this translation?

@Impressia – Personally I’d recommend buying a better card like Supercard, M3, or Cyclo. I think the M3′s are fairly cheap and offer the same perks that SC and Cyclo offer. Personally I prefer SC but that’s just my preference.

Generally I don’t think you can believe in people in this day an age, as you said before “Maybe I just hang out with too many assholes.” Since when has anyone not been an asshole at some point, is what I would like to know.. :/
I don’t mean to dishearten you but there is a large amount of people who will be nice just to obtain something from you, that they want, and then turn sour towards you… But then again everyone is quite different…

You have a full time job and still find time to work on this? T_T I have to give you kudos for that, most people can’t be bothered to do anything after they come home after a full time job. I’d just like to tell you of my appreciation for doing all of this once again..

I like the R4DS flashcards… They have good quality and are highly adaptable… True, they require a secondary OS to run properly but Moonshell isn’t a bad system…
As for what to play during the wait, may I suggest Nostalgio no Kaze, known simply as Nostalgia in the US and as Winds of Nostalgia in Europe, and Atelier Annie?
@Bob, I have an R4 and I really wouldn’t reccomend one. It’s not worth the hassle, and there are some games that don’t work on it, no matter haw much patching you do, or if you use Ysmenu. I’d reccommend either an Acekard2i if you have a DSi, or a CycloDS Evolution if you have a DSL/DS. They are much better. Sorry about the rant, I just don’t want any unsuspecting people to waste their money on an R4.

Well, I do hope that the R4 will be able to handle this upcoming ToI translation patch. The R4 has served me well so far for these years too.
That aside, glad that the translation is going on well. Not too long anymore now, right?

hmm. i have an r4 and have no had any problems with it and there really is no hastle atall, well the new mario and luigi rpg 2 (cant remember name) didnt work for me but i think i just patched that wrong. Yeah i liked 358/2 days but i completed it like 3 days after release so that ones out the window lol. And thanks bob ill try out nostalgia.

It is safe to assume that we’re getting close, but I really can’t make any promises beyond that.

I was playing Phantasy Star Zero and M&M – Clash of Heroes, but both of them got old fast …
phantasy star zero was such a huge dispointment lol i waited for like a year for the english translation and then it came out and i was just like oh….
you gotta admit though the game has a huge intense gameplay i mean like you do the main quests and what you do is you run through kill all the monsters collect the items and kill the boss then you can play the sub quests where you run through kill all the monsters and collect the items then kill the same boss then you can go to there area when ur not on a misson and run through kill all the monsters collect the items and kill the boss…..so much diversity in the game…….

Indeed, I would start crying now. I did my best to try and complete it by year’s end, but it isn’t going to happen. There wouldn’t be sufficient time for beta testing and I’m not willing to sacrifice that stage.
I cant believe that this would take soo long to translate to eng… I would have hoped it would be released this year.. Year 2009.

Well you should, because Ive been hoping for 1 year that it would be finished but no it still isn’t. I AM NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE. I am just stating my feelings. and I know you hate comments like this but, come on lighten up… you don’t have to cry. If you had more people editing and translating then maybe it would be done by now. I cant believe you have hundreds of peoples hopes in your hands, and you can’t even keep it together man. You need help, accept it. You cant complete this on your own. I respect your work though. You did a great job so far. This game is not all that and a bag of chips. When and if you finish, maybe just maybe you’ll learn a thing or too about promises. Wish you luck on your long long year of wasting our time. JK
I hope your using the donations, for the project. Not on yourself. That would be a waste of money. I am not sure on how much you have gotten so far but, i hope its put towards new computers. Or maybe faster translator programs. JK

Wasting your time? No one is forcing you to be here and I the only thing that I EVER promised is that I will see this project through to the end. If you think I owe you anything else, you’re dead wrong. The fact that you say that I can’t complete this on my own after I already have is laughable. Kingcom needs to finish off the hacking and Yuli and I need to finish the editing. Compared to what we’ve already accomplished, the rest is easy.
Also, if you actually read the post, the donation money WAS put toward Kingcom’s computer. ALL of it went toward his computer. I bought the PS3 with the money that I make at my job. My job isn’t sitting here on the internet serving you, in case you were wondering.

I have played some other part eng patch. and got a little feel of the game. I love all tales games, somehow they remind me of Studio Ghibli. And a while back i posted a comment about beta testing… now thinking about it, i would hate to beta test. I want to see the perfect, shining finish project. ^-^ Hope your having a blast… i joined the hacking world about 5 years ago… oh what memories.
