Admit it, you didn’t think we were going to make it, did you?
Well, we did! Yay! I enjoyed reading the comments from people who were upset about us not releasing the patch in June without even telling you why. As it turns out, we didn’t explain why we were delaying the release because we were not delaying the release. As with many things, June ain’t over ’til it’s over. So there you have it.
Please do read the README since it includes the patching instructions. This post will be relatively short since I know most people just want to play the game.
There is always room for improvement when it comes to projects like this. I know that’s a weird thing to say when I’m releasing something that I’m truly proud of, but I genuinely believe that I could spend another year working on this patch and probably make changes constantly. We’re at the point where we’re ready to draw the line and call it finished. That was our real purpose in setting the June deadline. We needed to have one. As much as perfectionists like Kingcom and myself hate to admit it, perfection is not a reasonable goal. We put in thousands of man-hours on this project and we are ready to send it out to the world. So with no further ado, Kingcom and I are proud to present the Tales of Innocence English translation patch.

I have one question, did you guys edit the header of the ROM at all?
I can’t seem to use any AR codes with my AK2 (AKaio1.7. Game ID’s still match according to the properties menu in Acekard2, but it would be awesome to figure out why this is happening to me, and if I am the only one.
Using a translation patch on a rom automatically change the header of a rom. There is some APP around to force it to change back to the original (while you would keep the trsnslation applied).

The game keeps freezing (with black screens) when I’m supposed to fight the robed guys as Luca. The music is still playing and closing the lid doesn’t stop anything. I’m using R4 with the latest R4 firmware (not Wood)
^ that’s what’s happening to me, using M3 + sakura with the latest firmware. also getting a lot of sound glitches.

Thanks so much for this, guys! I’ve been vaguely following this for a while now and I can’t even imagine the amount of work it must have taken. Patching now~!
Sure the wait is long and all that, but the thing is, had a partial translation patch came out, I may of used that one, played through the game and then never picked it up again. With this patch however, I have found a level of “fullness” I didn’t think existed with imports. The INCREDIBLE level of QUALITY found in this patch is beyond anything I have ever seen. It feels professional, “real” and gives me a real full flavor of enjoyment from the game I don’t think I could of found anywhere else. I’m -GLAD- I was forced to wait, because the end product is sooooo much more amazingly awesome it’s not even funny. It’s COMPLETE, no gaps, no missing anything.
Amazingly, even the personalities of the characters really shine through, the word choice matches the mood of the voice actors perfectly. Like I said before, pure quality, there’s such a sheer level of quality here that isn’t found in even the most professional of products these days. It’s like an ultra-fine cheese or high class wine, you can “taste” how much effort and focus on even the tiniest detail that was put into this project. I feel like not only am I not missing anything by not knowing Japanese and playing the original “format” of the title, I honestly feel like the translation has somehow improved or added to the product as a whole (perhaps it’s the karaoke intro lol), but this really is an amazing accomplishment. Great job Absolute Zero, you guys showed everyone what’s what.

Perfect Chaos Zero, thanks for your comment. It was one of the most genuine thank yous that we got. That said, I removed the ‘vulgar’ part of your comment. While I understand how you feel, there’s no reason to worry about what happened in the past. Let’s just celebrate what we all have to enjoy now instead.
See the thing is I don’t know how to change from normal R4 firmware to Wood. i DLed it but i don’t know what i should replace and etc.
Also i don’t know if the rom itself is broken or not. Was there an AP problem i wasn’t aware of?
Sorry then throughhim, though it was rather deserved imo, I suppose I’ll have to settle for letting the awesomeness of your translation say what I wanted to say for me. It does do a rather great job of cramming some feet into many a mouth. >=D

Xannt:
#1: There’s no AP in the rom that modern firmware doesn’t circumvent with ease with most flash carts.
#2: If the rom is broken (It’s probably not broken), create a new copy from your original cart. If you can’t do that, because you are pirating the rom, I’m afraid we aren’t allowed to advocate in here so I can’t help you on that one.
#3: Luckily R4 firmware itself doesn’t involve pirating so that, I can help you with.

Raagh switched the things like it said but it still does the same thing. The screen going black and staying black while the music plays.

I have a problem:
After Luca and Iria meet these 2 guys in white cloaks and fight them, the screen gets black while the music is playing. I use M3 DS Real card.
me too..im getting a black screen..im using wood r4 v1.10..but when i tested the japanese rom its working..is there a problem in patch?

Just wanted to say thanks a lot for patching this! I really appreciate it! I wish you kept multiplayer for us people with R4′s though. My boyfriend and I would’ve loved to play Ange and Spada together but we play the game with one DS like watching a TV, but hey can’t be too picky. After all you guys went through all this work! Thanks a bunch!
