Finally An Update!

By • October 4, 2007

Hooray!  Sorry for the lack of updates.  Been busy with school and such.  The translating has been progressing slowly, but rest assured, it has indeed progressed.  It’s kind of hard to describe what is and isn’t done at this point because frankly, I really don’t know.  I can throw out percentages, but that doesn’t necessarily reflect any kind of time schedule or how long things will take.  So, here are some pictures to hold you over in spite of the lack of information.

Before I would have called these final translation shots, but looking at them now, I don’t know.  Things always have the possibility of changing until the final release.  But no matter what ends up being the final version, know that it will have gone through thorough editing (unlike what you see here).  So there.  Yay!

  2. This project is great!! ^^
    I can’t wait to play it… \o/

    Thanks ^^

  3. Nice, Can i ask a question? I’m very sure you’ve played the Snes ToP throughhim413, i’ve heard some things and seem the different versions, but i figure you might know. You’ve probably heard of the “boat scene” right? well in the DeJap translation it has drinking and arche moaning certain things 😛 in the GBA version is has them all eating and not drinking, and i never got far enough in the PSX ToP to find out anything, can you shed some light on this heh. I figure the Snes one was a little misleading but the GBA version had a slightly different scene, thanks 🙂

  4. The GBA scene was actually more accurate then the DeJap version in my opinion. The only real problem with the GBA version was the alcohol censoring. But the sexual jokes are a bit more subtle then DeJap’s translation might have lead you to believe. Arche gets drunk, starts muttering things related to Cless (clearly an interesting dream she’s seeing), and then Klarth carries her off to bed after a smug remark. I intend to be accurate, but I’m not going to put words in people’s mouths. It’s my opinion that undertones should stay undertones and overtones should stay overtones. Meaning that my translation will aim to be accurate without changing the original feel of the scene in Japanese. It’s really not all that graphic in its descriptions though, so just keep that in mind.

  5. Well i think Cless plans to have it as the non-sexual scene rather than Dejap’s particular scene, though to be honest i thought the little Extra’s Dejap threw in we’re pretty amusing. 🙂

  6. While amusing, it’s not my place as a translator to change those kinds of things. I wish to be true to the original source material. I’m not trying to insult DeJap’s way of doing things, but I disagree with some of what they did and I’m not going to change facts just to get some laughs. In the first place, I’m not sure why the boat scene is so talked about in the first place. I never really found it to be that exciting, but for everyone else in the world, how the boat scene is translated seems to be the make-or-break point in ToP. Which isn’t a problem except that everyone seems to think DeJap should be the standard…

  7. Oh well it’s not really a big deal it’s always a good thing to follow the original script. I guess people just like the fact most RPGs don’t have such things, i mean for one i was eating pizza while playing ToP and practically choked haha. It was just so random but it isn’t as great after the 3rd time, but nevermind, I like the way things are going here so good luck! 🙂
