Tales of Xillia Hitting North America, Europe, and Australia in 2013!

By • July 6, 2012

Hardly the best kept of secrets, rumors about Xillia’s impending worldwide release have been floating around for months. Well they’re true! Yay!

Gematsu has some great coverage of the news, including the fact that if Xillia’s release is successful, we could be seeing Xillia 2 before long. If you don’t have a PS3 yet and you call yourself a Tales fan, now’s a good time to make the investment. I don’t have a whole lot else to say, but let’s make Xillia another success and keep the Tales games rolling our way! Truly, there has never been a better time to be a Tales fan.

  1. Awesome!

  2. Not being released before 21 12 2012?! Oh dear.

  3. if there is no dual voice, not gonna buy
alvin and tipo voice is epic, lol

  4. @kudanilarab

Mind sets like that are the reason we’ve been screwed in the past not just with the Tales franchise but with many other Japanese titles. Between that mindset and people who wait for the “price drop”/”buy it used” we’ve seen tons of great developers die and many great titles not localized.

  5. And why publishers/devs mindset doesn’t appreciate fans mindset either?
tales series is the only jrpg left for its originality, if you took it away, then what’s left? complaint and disappointment?

I like nisa for keeping their releases’ originality, so why bamco can’t follow their step? filesize isn’t the problem rite, lol

fyi, xillia doesn’t have any good replay value after 2 run-through
only 1 secret(?) dungeon with weak bosses
story is good though, but the ending is…
well, now I know why xillia 2 is being made

  6. That’s really great news, no so hot when you have gotten used to play Tales with japanese voices but hey, now I can understand what NPCs are saying. By the way, is everything alright with AZ? Seems as if you’ve been contaminated with whatever virus PP has since you started working with them.

  7. @kudanilarab

I see your point, but not supporting Bamco’s decision to localize a relatively niche games just because it doesn’t have the original VAs is just stupid

Most people don’t understand Japanese and subtitles can really be a distraction

And FYI, the Tales series have always been known for it’s gameplay, not because of it’s “amazing” VAs or whatever it is you call originality

  8. @Sirius: Compared to the virtually limitless free time that I had as a college student, it’s much more difficult to find time to translate as a full time worker. Realize, though, that getting things done fast has never been my top priority. As always, I continue to strive to release the highest quality work that I’m capable of. Hopefully I can still accomplish that in a reasonable amount of time, but honestly, current projects will probably never process as quickly as past ones did. Things are happening behind the scenes, mind you, there just isn’t much to talk about at this point.

  9. @morningglories

Having dual-audio and the option to toggle subtitles is not exactly going to distract people.

Those that want Dual-Audio will turn it on; and these people are likely already used to reading subtitles, because the majority of dual-audio people are those that watch anime, subbed.

Those that don’t want Dual-Audio, well, they won’t turn it on. And if the subtitles are so ‘distracting’, well, they can just go to the options menu and turn them off. Duh.

  10. @morningglories
who said that i do not supporting localization? i just feel… what i said earlier, complained and disappointed, but still bought dat goddamn graces stuff
gonna get my copy of japanese graces next time my friend goes to japan

    @tanya
this what i want, dual audio options, and option to enable/disable subtitle for those who feel distracted
    was that so hard bamco?

seeing the fan development on undubbed graces makes me feel worse
even vesperia is on progress… for “pirated ps3 version only”
    feel satisfied or disappointed now?

  11. I’m waiting for the release of Tales of Destiny for the PS2, keep up the good work. Thank you for your dedication and time.
I’ve already finished ToI and I’m playing ToP(PSX) atm, both translations were awesome. Thank you <3.

  12. Ok you guys are being rather Weaboo about all this stupid stuff.

None of you stop to even realize that to INCLUDE the original Voices that they have to LICENSE them ALONG with THE GAME. And not all times is the parent company WILLING to let that happen. You ever wonder why some companies that are known for Dual Audio sometimes don’t release dual audio?

Because it isn’t financially viable, or they can’t license it, or they don’t have the space, etc.

This is a NICHE game, licensing dual audio voice overs to please 0.001% of the playerbase is a HUGE waste of time for a game that is already and likely going to be not that profitable.

If you want those voices so damn bad, get off your ass and learn Japanese and import the game.

There has never been a dual-audio Tales game. And likely unless the series becomes UBER POPULAR. It will NEVER.

This isn’t meant to be douchey, but if you ever stopped to think about it logically you wouldn’t be stuck with such a narrow point of view.

You should be happy you are getting it at ALL.

It’s just like with DarkSouls on PC, people ask, They get, but they still bitch anyway for retorhical reasons and not even bothering to think about the fact FromS isn’t a PC developer, and that they decided to release it because a petition garnered less than 50K signatures. If they see that as consumer interest, they can’t afford to overspend on development.

FromS is doing their best considering their lack of experience and knowledge of modern PC development. At least they admit it too.

  13. Its very difficult to accept you not being douchey when you use words like weeabo (or however you spell it), you know, a word (?) you’re using specifically to insult people. First about your figures there, 0.001% was it? Check out this poll from GameFAQs:

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=4765

Funny how the majority either wants original voices or could be ok with them. Also amusing is how this poll with a sample of almost 50k is from GameFAQs where people like you are a dime a dozen. Actually I expected dubs to win by a landslide with how you people keep speaking about how few people want them, but lo and behold. Of course, the results of this poll do not represent an absolute truth but its far more solid than your claims.

Now, why are you so annoyed at people wanting these voices? Its not like they’ll stop dubbing the games. You can just ignore these silly “weeabos” and play your game in english when its out. Hell, even if there’s dual audio, you can ignore the option altogether. But here you are, being a douche.

    tl;dr: You’re making a fool of yourself.

    >i’ll take that as a compliment

None of you stop to even realize that to INCLUDE the original Voices that they have to LICENSE them ALONG with THE GAME. And not all times is the parent company WILLING to let that happen. You ever wonder why some companies that are known for Dual Audio sometimes don’t release dual audio?

    >same company, same license, bluray space? lol

This is a NICHE game, licensing dual audio voice overs to please 0.001% of the playerbase is a HUGE waste of time for a game that is already and likely going to be not that profitable.
    >wow where do you got that number, dear master of statistics

If you want those voices so damn bad, get off your ass and learn Japanese and import the game.
    >i’ve done both, next…

There has never been a dual-audio Tales game. And likely unless the series becomes UBER POPULAR. It will NEVER.
    >there’s always be a first time

This isn’t meant to be douchey, but if you ever stopped to think about it logically you wouldn’t be stuck with such a narrow point of view.
    >whose view is narrow? you, me, publishers, developers? narrow is a relative measurement

You should be happy you are getting it at ALL.
    >no i’m not happy getting a half assed product at a full price

It’s just like with DarkSouls on PC, people ask, They get, but they still bitch anyway for retorhical reasons and not even bothering to think about the fact FromS isn’t a PC developer, and that they decided to release it because a petition garnered less than 50K signatures. >pc is unrelated to this game

well, this is my last reply here
better to ignore a douchebag before they infect you

  15. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! i CANT WAIT!!!!!

  16. Expected this to come over a long time ago, being the mother-ship title for the PS3. Decent story, fun fighting, tons of content. Hopefully, they’ll be like the other titles we got way late, and we get extra content…
Dual-Audio? DGAF. Already played it in Japanese, a new set of voices is openly welcome. BamCo America has been pretty amazing with voice talent lately.
Here’s to hoping it does well enough that we get Xillia 2!

  17. I beated Graces F recently and when Xillia is released in USA i’m going to import it too, because i want more sales in america so i can play it and understand!
    Thanks namco!
