Keep Forgetting to Update

By • August 17, 2015

Here we are again! Another update that I’ve been putting off for way too long! Sorry!

As predicted in the previous post, I’ve been super busy as of late. However, as those of you following our bot on twitter already know, I’ve been steadily making progress on Tales of Destiny and Tales of Phantasia. I’ve set a goal of making at least a little progress each day. Exactly what I’m working on and how much I do varies, but so far it’s been a good motivator to squeeze some progress out of an otherwise busy schedule.

The biggest thing to mention, of course, is that I finally finished the initial translation of the ToDr’s Monster Book. This was one of those perpetual tasks where no amount of effort seemed to get me any closer to the goal. And thanks to the slow and steady strategy, it’s finally done. With that, the initial translation of ToDr’s menu is basically done. The only thing left to do is to translate the summaries, but that will be easier to do as I progress through the story events, so it’s not my primary focus right now. Translation aside, there are a lot of technical and aesthetic things that still need to be dealt with before we officially declare the menu complete, but we’re at least one step closer.

I’ve been working on Tales of Phantasia’s menu as well. There aren’t too many changes from the PSX version of the menu, but I’m giving everything a fresh translation before I look to incorporate elements from the previous AZ and PP ToP translations. The goal is to make sure this is the definitive translation of the game, so I want to make sure I have a more up-to-date base to work from in order to prevent any mistakes from previous versions from slipping into it. Not the most exciting work in the world, but progress is progress.

That’s all I’ve really got for now. We’re still a ways from completion on these projects, but we’ll get there. Thanks for your patience!

  1. cant wait, thanks for the update

  2. Keep up the good work

  3. Now we wait and see how many people will ask for a menu patch. Good work team.

  4. Hey, no problem. When your busy, sometimes, one tends to forget.

But it looks like progress is going smoother then ever, just a bit more & you’ll not only have Tales Of Destiny: Director’s Cut all ready to translation as an English Patch, but even Tales Of Phantasia X (or is it Edition Cross as mention on a site? Ah, suppose that don’t matter?)

What is important, is how close you guys are getting. Who knows? Maybe your hard work & dedication will be shown by those that make the Tales games in seeing how you help brought what never got localized for us to enjoy.

Heck, I probably think they do something wild & amazing, like make those that had sequels become Chronicles. I could blow my mind if they present a Tales Of Destiny Chronicles (the same way they worked with Symphonia) And I probably go crazy if they made a Tales of Phantasia Chronicles.

Well, that’s for the future to decide & tell us what the company will do? Till then, major good luck on the progress of finishing those translations. Chow & wishing you the best!

  5. You’re the best man. Thanks for the hardwork. Can’t believe I’ll be playing those games sometime.

  6. Great job!! Is there anything that a person how cannot translate from japanish can do to help?

    Regards!

  7. Thanks for the update. It’s always nice to hear that stuff is being worked on, even if it’s at a slow pace.

  8. Thanks for the update and keep up the good work!! Thank you!!!!!

  9. A little bit every day is sometimes the best way to handle a tedious section. But it’s nice to see the progress, even if slow. You translators work so very hard to bring us the games that we couldn’t previously play in English, and deserve all the thanks you get for it.

  10. by ToP you mean the X version included with dungeon right? if so then i cant wait i always wanted to play that version cuz of the constant flow of battle

  11. Hey, Hey! Guess what?

I’ve seen the wiki page for Tales Of Innocence, & it looks like pages for characters that we don’t know much unless playing the game is being filled out. Makes one wonder, if it had something to do with the first translation?

Man, I bet’cha anything, that if results show, maybe the R Version will get localized…if not, then maybe using the translation this site provided & ehh, some working together of comparing what appears similiar in Japanese writing to be translated, or being close, may help start a TOIR translation guide to be uploaded?

Oh, it’s so exciting, & it’s all thanks to Absolute Zero, I bet’cha a fan did the first game to start putting down what he learned that never got localized. You guys are certainly well respected & highly recommendable in your efforts.

So keep up the good work, we’re all rooting for yah in the work for Tales Of Destiny: Director’s Cut & Tales Of Pantasia X. Good luck…

  13. Good to hear about the progress on the fantranslation! I am super excited to see Destiny Remake and Phantasia X translated!

  14. 3 years ago, i was in the first 15 percent of playing destiny ps1 for the first time. then i saw destiny dc ps2 on youtube. i never touched ps1 destiny again, and have been watching this project since. thanks. can’t wait. can’t wait for ndx either. i know you aren’t doing it yet, but i’m patient.

  15. Thanks for the update. I’m still really stoked for ToPX, I can’t wait until you’re finished.

  16. Great news! =)

  17. Oh man! I haven’t checked on this for sooo long! I gotta say, I’m over-joyed that the Destiny project is still in the works!

Is there a way to donate? I would love to help, unfortunately I’m busy to directly help.. But I can donate!

Please make it happen T__T I have so many friends that want to play ToDR but the language barrier is the final boss for them.

  18. @Clesstan: We don’t take donations. Use the money you would have donated to help support the official English releases for the series! If you need somewhere to start, preorder Zestiria on Steam so we can meet the preorder mark for a free copy of Symphonia! And don’t worry – we’re not going anywhere!

  19. Throughhim413 Sorry to post this here, but I’ve been trying to get access to the forums for a few days now but when I ask for my password to be sent to my email, I never get the message nor can I start up a new account and post because I never get the verification email. Is there anyway you can check into that so I can get that email?

  20. @ultpaladin: I see an account you registered with the username ultpaladin2. I’ve activated it. See if you can log in. Let me know if you have any further problems. The email was different from the one you used to post here, so hopefully you have access to it still.

  21. Thank you for helping so quickly.

  22. Thanks <3

  23. I salute your work sir! Tales of Destiny was the 1st Tales game I played and also the 1st game I bought with my ps1 ages ago. This game is going to rock my socks off 🙂 I appreciate everything you are doing here! Ganbatte!

  24. Hi-hi! It’s October!

Just wanting to wish you guys luck on whatever hard work your doing. Hope we’ll get to see some interesting news soon. Oh, maybe something scary for the Halloween theme, but…it’s your choice.

I feel like the hour is almost upon us. Man, the moment Tales Of Destiny: Director’s Cut gets a translation program, it’ll be just like Vesperia for the PS3. And soon everyone will be playing it, posting videos about it, & guess where the credit is gonna go to…you guys at Absolute Zero, for making it possible. (Heck, already fans for Vesperia PS3 are getting excited to see new stuff never seen that’s translated, especially with Patty being involved, which lots of fans are majorly curious about what happens, etc.)

So once more, good luck, take your time, & hope you’ll have a Happy Halloween!

  25. What wonderful news!!! There is only one other translation I’m hoping for/waiting on anywhere near the level of excitement that this one generates and that’s the Gen 2 remake of the second Phantasy Star.

I’m sure I speak for everyone when I wish you all the health and happiness in the world for putting so much effort into bringing these classics to the west. Your perfectionism is also very inspiring, when we consider the half hearted works in the scene. I look forward to a masterwork rivaling anything a big time publisher would do.

  26. Thank you so much for all your hard work. I really can’t wait to play Destiny remake! :’)

  27. How’s Destiny coming along now? 🙂
